Thank you to all those who donated blood (and those who tried to as well). The student recruiters will be receiving their prizes shortly. The American Red Cross said that the PCS blood drive "was a GREAT success!" Thank you also to the Moms In Touch group that hosted the hospitality table.Swimming Lessons
The dates for swimming lessons that take place as part of our physical education classes have been changed again. The dates for these lessons are now scheduled for March 15-18, 2010.Spelling Bee
Students in grades 3rd -8th will be participating in a school spelling bee on Monday, February 1 at 9:00 am in the school gymnasium. A copy of the rules for the spelling bee can be obtained in the school office. Unfortunately, the Illinois State Board of Education and the Regional Office of Education have discontinued funding the Regional (Livingston County) Spelling Bee that is normally held the third week of February at the Pontiac High School Auditorium. Our winning spellers will not be able to move on to further competition. However, we would still like to have our students participate in the school Spelling Bee as usual.Livingston County Special Services Unit
Free developmental screenings will be offered in the Spring of 2010 by the Livingston County Special Services Unit, the Livingston County Health Department, and OSF St. James JWA Medical Center. Parents of all birth to 6 year olds are invited and encouraged to have their child screened. Areas include vision, hearing, speech, language and motor skills. Parents should call PCS (one week prior to the screening date) for information about the location and to schedule an appointment.Odell February 9

Because Pontiac is no longer part of the Livingston County Special Services Unit Co-op, Pontiac residents who would like their children screened should contact District 429 directly.
